So on one hand, I understand that Anonymous stunts help create a ton of press for things that could potentially become overlooked. And they create press for statements like

Which I also think is good. And it is always reassuring to know how easy it is to mess with the powers that be. But it’s easy to mess with them on a superficial level. With Megaupload, I don’t know that flexing the hax0r muscles of the people is the best approach. It has sort of a “preaching to the choir” feel. Because yeah, we get it. But the powers that are already on censorship’s side will only see an attack like this as more reason to wrangle in the internet, and make them feel more righteous in their efforts.
